Cell Phones/ Electronic Devices
Students are not allowed to have cell phones with them on campus or in class.
The school day begins when the student enters the school building and ends with the dismissal bell at 2:50 pm. If the student brings their phone on campus, office staff will lock their phones in a secured lock box that is kept in the administration office. Cell phones will be delivered to their last period teacher at the end of the school day. Phones that are visible will be confiscated by a staff member. Students are discouraged from bringing cellphones to school. We anticipate an increase in student engagement and success by not having the distraction of phones in classrooms. In addition, we cannot guarantee their security from theft on campus. The school assumes NO responsibility for the theft or recovery of cell phones from backpacks.
The consequences for having a visible or powered-on cell phone are as follows:
- 1st offense – confiscation and phone returned to parent on the day it was confiscated.
- 2nd offense – confiscation and phone returned to parent after seven days.
- 3rd offense – confiscation and phone returned to parent at the end of the current semester.
Parent pick up of confiscated phones/electronic devices will be from 2:50 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. Please plan accordingly.
Unauthorized use of personal electronic devices includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Possessing, viewing, sending or sharing video or audio information having sexual, violent or threatening content on school grounds, school events or school busses shall be prohibited and may result in disciplinary action and/or confiscation of the personal electronic device.
- Transmitting school materials for unethical purposes such as cheating.
- Any activity, which may be in violation with the Albuquerque Public Schools Bullying Prevention policy and procedural directive.
Visitor Policy
- Visitors must report to the main office off Kathryn Street, sign in, and obtain a guest pass with the secretary.
- Individuals will be asked to go to the main office if they are on our campus without a guest pass.
- In most cases visitors/guests under the age of 18 will not be allowed on campus.
Bicycles/Scooters/Skateboards
Students riding these to school are getting wonderful exercise, but they need to dismount when they arrive at the perimeter of the campus.
Bicycles should be locked in the provided racks on campus and scooters, skateboards, etc. should be left in a classroom until the end of the school day for retrieval.
If a problem persists, the item will be confiscated for a 24 hour period, a week, or two weeks depending on the number of previous warnings and it will be required that the item be picked up by a parent/family member.
Continuous problems could result in the item being confiscated for the remainder of the school year and not returned until the end of May.
